 Print This

Text Area fields in "Add/Edit Requirement", "Add/Edit Feature",and "Add/Edit Use Case" pages contain a Rich Text Editor (RTE). RTE enables you to enter "rich text content" such as:

  • Bold text
  • Italic text
  • Underlined text
  • Different text colors
  • Different highlight colors
  • Different text sizes
  • Lists (bulleted lists, numbered lists)
  • Tables
  • Images

This article provides you a quick introduction to using the RTE in Accompa.

Buttons:

The following table lists the buttons present in the "Toolbar" area of RTE and their functionality.

Button Function Usage
Save & Keep Editing Save the text you're entering while remaining on the page to enter more text or to edit other fields.

Click this button to save the requirement and keep editing it further. Pressing Ctrl + S on your keyboard (Cmd + S on Mac) has the same effect as pressing this button.

Tip: When entering a lot of text into a field, keep pressing this button (or "Ctrl+S") at regular intervals. This will avoid the loss of text you've entered if your browser crashes, or your internet connection is disrupted.
Paste as Plain Text Paste the text you've copied from sources such as other software, or web pages.

Click this button, then paste the copied text into the box that appears and follow on-screen directions.

While you can directly paste the text into a RTE field, we recommend that you use this button to avoid unpredictable results. Please note that using this button will remove all formatting and hyperlinks from the pasted text.
Paste from Word Paste the text you've copied from Microsoft Word.

Click this button, then paste the copied text into the box that appears and follow on-screen directions.

While you can directly paste the text into a RTE field, we recommend that you use this button to avoid unpredictable results. Using this button will maintain most of the formatting of the pasted text.

This button can also be used to paste text copied from web pages - doing so will retain the hyperlinks.

Check Spelling Perform spell checking of text content in a Rich Text Editor field. You can do spell checking in more than 10 languages.

View HTML Source For Advanced users only. Useful to view and edit the "HTML source" corresponding to the rich text you've entered.

Use this with caution - if HTML source is incorrectly edited, it can lead to highly unpredictable results and even loss of data.
Preview Very handy way to preview the content you're entering.

Click this button to see a preview.

You can also use this to print the contents of a single field. Click the button, then in the browser window that opens - select
File > Print  from the browser menu to print the content.
Maximize Enter or edit text in "Full Screen" mode.

Click this button to enter "Full Screen" mode, and click it again to return to normal mode.

This can be very useful when entering a large body of text. When using this mode, we recommend that you keep pressing button (or "Ctrl+S" on your keyboard) at regular intervals. This will avoid the loss of text you've entered if your browser crashes, or your internet connection is disrupted.

On some browsers (such as Internet Explorer), entering and leaving "Full Screen" mode can be quite slow - while on other browsers (such as Firefox or Google Chrome), this action will be faster.
Resize Field This is actually not a button in the toolbar of RTE - rather, it's a "control" present at the bottom-right corner of RTE fields.

Click and drag this to resize the field. This is useful when you're entering more content into a field, but don't want to enter the "Full Screen" mode yet.

Tips:

  • When entering a lot of text into a RTE field, keep pressing "Ctrl+S" (Cmd + S on Mac) at regular intervals. This will save the contents of the field - you can avoid the loss of text you've entered if your browser crashes, or your internet connection is disrupted.
  • When you press the "Enter" key - that will introduce a "double" line spacing. When you prefer "single" line spacing, you can achieve that by pressing "Shift + Enter" key instead. This behavior is similar to word processors such as Microsoft Word.
