Our Philosophy

What We Believe In and Stand For

Here are the key beliefs and concepts that form our philosophy. We share these with you openly so that you can get to know our company better. We make no claims that this is the only correct set of beliefs - rather this is just the philosophy we strongly believe in. And... we respect those who hold beliefs opposite to ours.

1. Software Should Empower, Not Frustrate

  • We believe in making simple, easy-to-use software that empowers people.
  • We believe the majority of requirements management software out there today is bloated, complex software that frustrates people.
2. Fewer Features

  • While most of our competitors take pride in having more features than anyone else - we take pride in having fewer (but important) features, beautifully implemented.
  • We believe it's far better to design software that does 5 things very well, rather than 50 things in a very mediocre fashion.
3. Just Because We Can, Doesn't Mean We Should

  • Just because our software CAN do something, doesn't mean it SHOULD.
  • For example - we're told that many of our competitors have fancy, colorful "bubble charts". We dislike them with a passion (bubble charts, not competitors!) and will not add them to our software. This book describes in detail why we dislike them so much - i.e. very poor way to communicate quantitative information; emphasizes glitz over substance and usefulness.
4. Simplify, Simplify, Simplify

  • We believe in finding and offering simple solutions - even for complex problems.
  • We don't believe anyone comes to work in the morning wishing their work was more complex.
5. Focus is Good Awesome

  • We only do 1 thing: Software to help you manage your requirements in a better way. Our software doesn't do bug tracking; or project management; or test case management. Or... a dozen other things some software products in our space attempt to do.
  • We offer our software using only 1 model - SaaS (Software-as-a-Service, i.e. we host it on our servers and take care of all backup & maintenance).
  • This focus enables us to do 1 thing really, really well for you.
6. Not in a Hurry

  • We believe in growing slowly with a long-term focus on always remaining profitable (hence dependable) and super-attentive to our customers' needs.
  • We're not in a hurry to "grow at any cost". We're not up against any "market windows" - we believe 10 or 20 years from now people would still want a simple tool to manage their requirements better, to help them build more successful products.
7. Big Fees Are NOT Us

  • Our software is affordably priced and will continue to be. As we're self-funded, we're not under any outside pressures and there are no investors holding a gun to our head.
  • What drives us is our desire to help companies build more successful products, more efficiently. We're committed to helping as many companies as we can (while still making a reasonable profit). As a result, we'll continue to keep our prices affordable.
8. Mission: Impossible?

  • Our mission is simple: To help companies create more successful products - by enabling them to continuously improve every part of their requirements management process.
  • And yes, we definitely choose to accept this mission! (Gratuitous reference to "Mission: Impossible" movies and TV shows).
9. We Don't Enter Award Competitions

  • We believe they often encourage software companies to misplace their priorities on the opinions of media, analysts & peers - rather than on the needs of their customers.
  • So we spend all our time listening to our customers - and building awesome software and delivering delightful service to make our customers' work life easier, more successful & happier.
10. Try Me, Love Me

  • We offer fully-functional FREE trial to all prospective customers. Then we back it up with our 90-day, unconditional, 100% money-back guarantee (as far as we know, we're the only company in our space to do so).
  • Why? Because we want you to have ample opportunity to figure out whether our software can help you before you pay us your hard-earned money.
11. Yummy Dog Food

  • We eat our own dog food - we use our software every day to manage all of our own requirements data.
  • This helps us quickly identify things that are frustrating and improve them fast - for our own sake and that of our customers.
12. Quotes We Like Love

  • Steve Jobs: Innovation is not about saying yes to everything. It is about saying no to all but the most crucial features.
  • Sam Walton: There is only one boss. The customer. And he can fire everybody in the company from the chairman on down, simply by spending his money somewhere else.
13. What's In a Name

  • We're often asked about the origin of our name "Accompa".
  • It's based on two words: Accomplish & Accompany. We believe in building software that accompanies you (like a friend) during your work day and helps you accomplish things you'd like to - such as more successful products, less stress, etc.
14. Listen & Evolve Fast

  • We listen to our customers constantly and proactively - nearly 100% of our product roadmap originates from customer requests. It's not driven by the latest hot trends in technology, nor by what our competitors do - we pay very little attention to these.
  • We do major releases every quarter, and minor releases at least once every month. This helps us respond to customer needs faster & evolve constantly.
15. Delightful Customer Support

  • We don't outsource our support. Nor do we employ minimum-wage personnel to provide support. Instead, our support is provided by well-paid people who are experts in our software and work closely with our engineers building our software - so our support is always knowledgeable, accurate and friendly.
  • Unlike so many companies today, we don't consider customer support a "cost center" - rather we believe that delivering delightful customer support is our company's lifeblood.
