How do "Ad-hoc Filters" work in a SmartView?

"Ad-hoc Filters" help users to filter a SmartView on-the-fly. They differ from "Filter Criteria" defined when creating/editing a SmartView as follows:

Ad-hoc Filter Filter Criteria
Defined by users to filter a SmartView on-the-fly. Defined by the owners of a SmartView when creating/editing a SmartView.
"Ad-hoc Filters" applied by one user do *not* impact other users. "Filter Criteria" defined for a SmartView impact all users.
Any user with "Read" privileges for a SmartView can apply "Ad-hoc Filters." Only the owners of a SmartView can apply/modify "Filter Criteria."

How do I use "Ad-hoc Filters"?

  1. Go to a SmartView page.
  2. Click "Ad-hoc Filter" link directly above the table.
  3. Define desired filter criteria for the "Ad-hoc Filter."
  4. Click "Apply Filter" button within the "Ad-hoc Filter" section to apply the ad-hoc filter criteria.
    • Page will reload and will display only those records that meet the "Ad-hoc Filter" criteria *plus* the "Filter Criteria" defined when the SmartView was created.
  5. At any time, you can click "Remove Filter" button within the "Ad-hoc Filter" section to remove the "Ad-hoc Filter" criteria.
